Tasting Australia 2019 dates announced

Following an incredibly successful 2018 event, the State Government has announced the Tasting Australia event will return in 2019 from April 5-14.

“This year’s Tasting Australia event was another resounding success, with nearly 5,000 interstate and almost 3,000 international guests experiencing the leading South Australian festival,” said Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment David Ridgway.

“The interstate and international visitation amounted to just over 41,000 room nights, with more than 54,000 people experiencing the free festival hub in Victoria Square.

“Tasting Australia has gone from strength to strength and the new State Government hopes to continue to grow this event next year.

“South Australia is home to some of the best food and beverage in the world and Tasting Australia is a great platform to showcase what we have to offer and shines a light on our regions.

“The benefit of Tasting Australia is not only expenditure during the event period, but the impact goes much further with businesses, including Africola in the city’s East End, noting increased bookings from new markets post Tasting Australia, as a result of the profile it has achieved.”

Events South Australia, Executive Director, Hitaf Rasheed said Tasting Australia was an important event for the State and its benefits extend far beyond its economic impact.

“Tasting Australia tells the state’s food and beverage story, builds our reputation as a must try culinary destination and inspires people from around the world,” said Ms Rasheed.

“Tasting Australia is all about offering unique experiences, showcasing the State’s rich regional landscape and elevating our local industry alongside the world’s best.

“There’s no doubt that 2018 was a really strong event and we look forward to delivering an outstanding program again in 2019.
